The response to the CIRP ICME ‘23 confirmed the ever increasing widespread interest in the topics of Intelligent Computation in Manufacturing Engineering. The conference attracted more than 200 delegates with 4 KN presentations in the Plenary Session and 179 presentations in the Technical Sessions by authors from 22 countries and 4 continents. The topics dealt with ranged from Intelligent Production Systems to Smart Manufacturing Technologies as well as to Emerging Issues like Biological Transformation in Industry, Ecosystems & Sustainability, Machine Learning & Deep Learning, Energy & Resource Efficiency.
As regards the EC BioMeld Project dissemination activities, a Keynote presentation entitled “A Modular Framework for Designing and Producing Biohybrid Machines – BioMeld, EC Horizon Europe Project” was made by Prof. Roberto Teti of the Smart Sensing group in the Plenary Session illustrating the EC BioMeld project. Furthermore, a Special Session on BioMeld and Biological Transformation in Industry was held with seven technical presentations, including a presentation on the Smart Sensing activities in the BioMeld project entitled “Bio-intelligent manufacturing cell (BIMC) development for biohybrid machines (BHM) fabrication within the EC Horizon Europe BioMeld project” by Dr. Alessandra Caggiano and Prof. Roberto Teti.
